Amir-ud-din and the foundations of our legacy
At the centre of our family’s story is Amir-ud-din, our grandfather and the founder whose work laid the foundation for Al-Aziz Optical. His contribution continued through his six sons, whose careers extended the family’s involvement across different parts of the optical profession. The businesses they established gave that legacy a presence beyond one shop or one name. For the generations that followed, Amir-ud-din’s place in our history carries a responsibility: to understand the work, respect the customer and continue improving the service associated with the family name.
A family that helped shape Lahore’s optical trade
The late Dr Fiaz Amir-ud-din, one of Amir-ud-din’s six sons, became an eye specialist. His career brought specialist medical eye care into the wider family story. The other five sons established their own optical setups, carrying the family’s experience into customer service and the supply of eyewear:

Shah Alam Market holds a special place in the Al-Aziz Optical story. Our opening-day photograph, with Dr Israr in attendance, preserves an important moment in the life of the business and the family behind it.
Visible inside the shop are the words “Eyes are more precious than jewels.” That message gives this photograph a lasting relevance. It expresses the value placed on sight and the responsibility that comes with helping someone choose their eyewear.
